Physical activities are not just for losing weight, it’s about improving physical and mental well-being. Being sedentary is the nemesis to better health. Being active helps decrease physical health related issues like diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, sleep. On the mental health side, it helps decrease anxiety, stress, depression and creates an overall better mood.
Just like with any other kind of change, start slow. If you’re not use to being active, jumping into it too quickly can cause injury and/or burnout. Assess your current physical activity levels and add one or two goals at a time. Also, focus on activities you may find fun. Enjoyment will help ensure long term success.
